A healthy democracy depends on citizens exercising their right to vote at every election. This includes elections for local office holders as well as state and federal office holders.
While we think of the “general election” in November of even years as “the election,” actually there are elections in most months of the year — December, March, April, May, June and November — as well as in both even and odd years.
The listing below gives the dates for the largest jurisdictions. Your village will likely have its own calendar (find out more by going to its website).
April — voting for Library Budgets and Library Trustees— for Port Washington & Manhasset & some neighboring libraries.
May — votes for school budgets & candidates for Boards of Education — for Port Washington & Manhasset, North Shore, Carle Place, Great Neck — 3rd Tuesday in May
June — Primary elections to select Democratic and Republican candidates for November ballot
October & November —General Election Day on Tuesday after first Monday in November — Early voting begins 11 days earlier.

Candidates appearing on ballots must be certified by the Clerk of that election board.
