It is with deep sadness that our League honors the memory and service of Mary Ellen McCollum who died on Friday, August 31, 2012.
Mary Ellen had long served as a member of our Board, most recently as the membership director. She and her husband, Bill, often worked together, in support of our various LWV events.
Mary Ellen, a long-time Port resident, was the proud mother of three sons and a loving grandmother. In addition to her League work, Mary Ellen served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Peter’s Church. She was active in the Community Chest and the Manhasset Bay Yacht Club.
Mary Ellen was generous, dependable, with a wry sense of humor. She was always there to help and make a difference. She will be sorely missed by our Board and our community.
May Mary Ellen rest in peace.
