Dear Governor Hochul:
The League of Women Voters of New York State strongly supports S1356A/A3649B the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC) bill, which will allow New York State to join a multistate voter list maintenance organization. We urge you to sign this bill into law without delay to give the state and county Boards of Elections ample time to implement the procedures needed to join ERIC and to reap the benefits of modernizing and improving our state’s voter rolls in time for the 2026 election cycle.
The League is a nonpartisan political organization working to promote civic responsibility through informed and active participation of citizens in government. We have forty local leagues throughout the state registering and educating voters on local and state issues. The League does not support or oppose political candidates. These failures undermine voter access and trust in a time when it’s critically important.
ERIC offers a proven, secure, and nonpartisan solution. Already adopted by 26 states, ERIC uses data from state voter files, DMV records, the Postal Service, and the Social Security Administration to help election officials:
