THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE

We serve our local communities of East Williston, Glen Cove, Glen Head, Glenwood Landing, Great Neck, Manhasset, North Hills, Port Washington, Roslyn, Roslyn Harbor, Roslyn Heights, Sea Cliff, and Williston Park.

We work closely with the other 3 Leagues of Nassau County to educate and advocate on county-wide issues:

We also work closely with the State League (LWVNY.org) on state legislation, voter services and outreach, and toolkits for serving our communities and advocating for NYS legislation where existing LWVNYS positions have been prioritized into our annual legislative agenda.

The National League serves its 700 local leagues in all 50 states (Washington, D.C., and some territories), each its own grassroots organization. LWVUS advocates for federal legislation, joins legal actions to enforce compliance with good government legislation where local leagues and the national League have prioritized existing League positions (such as voting rightsclimate justice, and women’s health rights), and by investing in the creation of such citizen tools as People Powered Fair Maps™ and Vote411.org, our award-winning online voter guide and voter information tool.

Volunteer!

People often join our PWM League because they want to educate and advocate for issues they care about  — to actively serve their local and larger communities and our democracy by working on issues without regard to partisan affiliation.

Our League works on a host of issues — and provide numerous community services — some of which are listed under Our Work.  Some members offer specialized efforts, a few hours per month or one project per year; others are passionate about their issue, working with our League and also with Leagues around NYS and the US.  We can help you find something that will allow you to team with others in service, in education, or in advocacy — at times and levels of effort that work for you.  Join us to help engage our communities to strengthen our democracy.
