BiosDr. Evan Mandery is a professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. A graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School, Evan is the author of six books. A Wild Justice, a history of two Supreme Court death penalty cases, won an ABA Silver Gavel and was a New York Times editors’ pick. Last year, he won an Emmy Award and a Peabody Award for his Twitch series, Artificial.

Jackie Duodu-Burbridge’s work in non-profit and social justice spans over 15 years. Jackie is the co-founder of the Long Island Black Alliance which convened Long Island United to Transform Policing and Community Safety, a coalition of nearly 40 organizations working to reimagine the concept of public safety on Long Island. She is also an active volunteer with the Urban League of Long Island, serving as a member of their State of Black Long Island Equity Council, as co-chair of the Legislative Action Team. Jackie is also currently a Fellow with the New York Education Trust.

James Coll is an adjunct professor of American and Constitutional history at Hofstra University and Nassau Community College. For 21 years, he served as a detective in the NYPD, with 16 of those years in the department’s tactical and rescue unit. He has written numerous articles for Politico, The Hill, City Journal and Newsday among other periodicals and is the founder of ChangeNYS.org, a not-for-profit dedicated to promoting honest, open, responsive and limited government in our state. He lives in Seaford.

Dr. Alex S. Vitale is Professor of Sociology and Coordinator of the Policing and Social Justice Project at Brooklyn College and a Visiting Professor at London Southbank University. He has spent the last 30 years writing about policing and consults both police departments and human rights organizations internationally. He is the author of City of Disorder: How the Quality of Life Campaign Transformed New York Politics and The End of Policing. He has also appeared on CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, NPR, PBS, Democracy Now, and The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.
