The National and State Leagues have many reached consensus on scores of issues. Our League, each year, prioritizes a handful of these based on members who take on responsibility for educating others, tracking legislation, advocating for priority bills, and — after consensus has been reached with the State or National League — lobbying our representatives for legislation related to that handful of priorities.
Some issues, even if ranked as lesser priority for PWM committees, matter to members. Many of these are prioritized by NYS Issues Specialists and committees made up of members from local Leagues around NYS.
We call these “Watch-Dog” issues because … when we hear barking … we roll into action. Issues Specialists, their committees, and NYS can send “action alerts” about particular bills that need immediate advocacy.
