Redistricting After the 2020 Census

Redistricting After the 2020 Census

A 2014 New York constitutional amendment created an Independent Redistricting Commission to draw state and federal election districts within the state. New Yorkers will now have more of a say in the district mapping process and the commission is looking for your input. Find out more about the redistricting process, the rules for how maps are drawn and how you can participate.

LWV PWM members, Antonia Petrash & Helen Kotzky,  will lead the session, describe what’s happening in Nassau County, and answer questions about the process, how it will affect you, and about FairMaps, the LWV software:People Powered Fair Maps™,a national redistricting program of the League of Women Voters focused on creating fair political maps nationwide in all 50 states + D.C.People Powered Fair Maps™ was launched in September 2019 to create fair and transparent, people-powered redistricting processes that eliminate partisan and racial gerrymandering nationwide. Join our newsletter to stay up to date with the movement.
